Glass fibre

The Internet of the future, today.

Due to the ever-increasing demand for internet bandwidth; just think of the new generation of television (4K and 8K) & online games; the telecom networks also need to become more efficient. The current networks in coax and copper cables can no longer guarantee these speeds. That is why fibre optics is being chosen more and more. Over the next ten years, APK Group will be laying this hyper-fast network both in the street and in the home itself; a so-called 'Fiber to the Home' network.

Fibre optics ensures the absence of connection noise during meetings, faster uploading, smooth streaming and crystal-clear telephone connections. All this through a hair-thin wire with a thickness of less than 0.2mm.

Building fibre in six steps

Preparation

Detailed planning ensures the smooth running of the subsequent project.

Technical planning

The technical side of the planning is done to ensure an optimal installation.

Home visit & communication

Communication with the residents and parties involved is key. A home visit is scheduled together with the resident at a convenient time to ensure efficient installation.

Backbone

The starting point for the roll-out of fibre to the districts within the city/municipality.

Food & Distribution

Via the POP cabins, the fibre goes to the houses. Then the fibre arrives in distribution wells. Here each house gets a fibre with its own colour.

FTU

The Fiber Termination Unit (FTU) is the box that is mounted in the homes of residents to provide them with super fast internet.

Fiber installation in view

APK Group has highly qualified fibre optic welders. They work with the necessary care and precision. This video shows how our German colleagues work installing glass fibre in an apartment building.
