A healthy and, above all, safe working environment is essential in our industry. Our goal is for every APK worker to return home at night as healthy and well as they arrived at work in the morning.

Our sustainability policy is a broad one. It is about our planet as well as our people.
We have a number of projects running all the time.

Some of our current initiatives

... with focus on us climate:

  • How can we unnecessarily avoid waste and recycle our waste as much as possible?
  • How can we make our consumption from reduce fuel? Where can we efficiently use green energy during our works?
  • How can we make it energy consumption at our offices reduce?

... with a focus on our people:

  • How do we operate at all times on a safe means with each other and with our environment?
  • How can we support our employees in their health, e.g. in terms of healthy eating and adequate exercise?
  • How to help APKs with vertical or horizontal grow if they want to?  

      Many of these initiatives were started at the request of our own APKs.

      Sustainability in the spotlight

      APK Group achieves level 3 on the CO2 performance ladder

      Positioning ourselves as a company on the ‘CO2 Performance Ladder’ is increasingly a must for our clients. This CO2 Performance Ladder assesses how quickly and efficiently we can reduce our company's CO2 emissions. Achieving our certificate for ’level 3' is therefore a powerful signal that we are seriously and actively committed to sustainability.

      That's why we want to thank all the APKwho have contributed to this!

      This year, we're taking on the challenge of maintaining our certification. And you can help with that too: by not leaving machines idling unnecessarily, carpooling when possible, or simply driving with the correct tyre pressure, we can significantly reduce our fuel consumption, for example!

      Your mileage counts! Why is it important to check your tyre pressure?

      Optimal tyre pressure is not only good for your safety, but also for the environment and your wallet. When the tyre pressure is not set correctly, your vehicle uses more fuel or electricity than necessary. This leads to unnecessary costs and extra emissions.

      During the Smarter Together Network Event we checked the tyre pressure of our own APKs. And that yielded interesting insights:

      • ✅ 31 of 80 vehicles gave permission to be searched.
      • ✅ 86% reeds met Under tension, which corresponds to samples at hundreds of other companies.

      As 86% of all our vehicles (including lorries and vans) with Under tension drives, then we can simply by correctly inflating our tyres annually around 100,000 litres of fuel saved. That means a reduction of approximately 300 tonnes of CO₂emissions. By comparison: that is as much as the total emissions of 25 families!

      🌍 A small effort with a big impact. Together we make APK Group more sustainable.

      For our building management department, reusing materials is a matter of course.

      We usually buy desks, meeting tables and chairs second-hand or we replace, for example, the tabletop of a perfectly good desk set from our stock.

      Using reclaimed wood, we've already created a lighting bar with warm spotlights and frames for moss paintings. This is how we make office spaces or meeting rooms more cosy for our teams.

      ✅ And we also try to recover the details, such as the decoration on the walls. Think of the large, old...keyin our recently furnished Pelt meeting room ‘De Golden Key‘.

      Little by little, the team is taking on more APKspaces in an increasingly sustainable way. And that fits perfectly within our sustainability policy. 🌍
