New runway for Sanicole
1,300 tonnes of quality asphalt thanks to our road construction department
At APK Wegenbouw we are proud of the complete renovation of the 18-metre-wide and 600-metre-long runway of aeroclub Sanicole. We seized this challenge with both hands and delivered a beautiful end result that not only increases safety but also improves Sanicole's operational efficiency.
We started by milling the old runway and then mixed the old asphalt with cement additives to create a stable substrate to create. With the help of two dedicated subcontracting teams, a new top layer 5 centimetres thick was applied. The use of advanced techniques resulted in a neat finish where no seams are visible, crucial for a smooth landing.
What makes this achievement of our road construction department even more impressive is the timeline within which we worked. All work was completed in one week, in which we laid as much as 11,000 square metres of asphalt, equivalent to 1,300 tonnes of asphalt and 52.5 trucks.
