APK Group is going to make another 12,000 homes ready for connection to Fiberklaar
The projects are part of the broader rollout of fibre in Flanders, where various contractors have already been assigned a number of zones. The rollout of the fibre network ensures faster access for all residents to the digital world. A fibre connection offers additional possibilities for faster internet, more connectivity options and more possibilities for home applications.
12,000 connectable homes
‘The projects in Aarschot and the Scherpenheuvel-Zichem-Diest region tie in with the fibre-optic works we are already carrying out in other towns,’ says David Vandeputte, Operations Director at APK Group in Belgium. ‘This continuity allows us to work efficiently across the various phases of the rollout.’
‘APK Group is one of the larger contractors that Fiberklaar works with for this rollout,’ said Maarten Broens, CEO of APK Group in Belgium. ‘APK Group also has the ambition to be among the biggest players in the fibre market. We are therefore a proud and dedicated partner of Fiberklaar!’
APK Group is now installing fibre for Fiberklaar in 10 municipalities
APK Group has been active in several fibre-optic projects for Fiberklaar since 2021, including in Wetteren, Geel, Kontich-Lint, Mol, Zottegem and Genk. These projects involve a total of almost 70,000 connectable homes, a large proportion of which are in an advanced stage of implementation.
The focus today is on so-called “homes passed” networks, whereby the fibre optic cable is laid as far as the street so that new customers can subsequently be connected quickly. Connection into the home only takes place when residents actually opt for a connection.
Specialised teams for qualitative execution
‘For the execution of the projects, APK Group works with specialised teams responsible for constructing the network on site. The works are monitored according to fixed quality criteria, with attention given to signage, site organisation and the limitation of disruption, among other things.
