APK Group strengthens its telecoms business with the acquisition of GITS BV

16 September 2026
APK Group is acquiring Tongeren-based GITS BV, a company active across Flanders in areas such as data cabling, server rooms, CCTV systems and access control. With this acquisition, APK Group is strengthening its telecoms activities, with a focus on applications within buildings and corporate environments..

GITS is active in Flanders and around the capital, focusing on the installation of computer networks and building-related systems in SMEs and distribution companies, amongst others. The company has around 30 employees, including French-speaking colleagues, who will strengthen APK Group.

APK Group is already active in the construction of utility infrastructure, including gas and water networks, as well as the installation of security cameras. In addition, the group is strengthening its position within in-building cabling. The acquisition of GITS fits within this strategy and supports the further expansion of indoor cabling activities and integrated technical solutions. As a result, APK Group is focusing on applications in complex environments such as data centres, airports and large commercial buildings, as well as on the growing demand from the SME and distribution sectors for high-performance network, camera, access control and fire protection systems.

Pre-acquisition cooperation

Peter Peyffers, COO of APK Group in Belgium: ‘GITS has already been active within our projects over the past few years. We know their way of working and their expertise. With this acquisition, we are strengthening our in-house capacity and can support our clients even better in applications such as data cabling and security, for example for the modernisation of our clients’ buildings.’

Over the past 2.5 years, GITS has worked as a subcontractor on APK Group projects and will from now on continue to operate as a separate Business Unit. In this way, GITS will continue to serve all its customers as before and remain committed to the further growth of its activities. The company will work closely with various departments within APK Group, including Security & Connectivity and Smart Applications. These departments are active in security and technical installations within infrastructure and building-related projects, amongst other things.

Continuity of GITS

The two managers of GITS will remain active within the company, operating from now on as a Business Unit within APK Group.

Patrick Dumoulin, co-managing director of GITS: ‘For us, it is important to be able to guarantee long-term continuity, even when we want to take a step back. Within APK Group, we can also offer our employees additional prospects and opportunities for growth. As managers, we feel responsible for continuing to support that development.’

Through the acquisition, GITS gains access to APK Group's shared service centre, which includes HR, Legal and IT. This will relieve the business owners and allow them to focus even more on their business. In addition, APK Group works for major clients in Belgium, which offers additional opportunities for GITS's activities. Conversely, GITS also has great clients where APK Group can position itself for its other activities.

Maarten Broens, CEO of APK Group in Belgium: ‘Telecom is one of the core activities of APK Group. With GITS, we are bringing in additional knowledge and capacity to further support that development.’
