WATER DUST
The energy carrier of the future
We are helping build the hydrogen network in Europe.
We are laying the necessary hydrogen pipelines
and additionally connect hydrogen users to the grid.

What is hydrogen?
Hydrogen is the smallest and most common element in our universe. We can be very much energy extract by making it react with other substances such as oxygen.
To give you an idea: one kilogram of hydrogen contains about three times more energy than one kilogram of petrol or 120 times more than a one-kilogram battery.
Why hydrogen?
- Hydrogen is a powerful energy source that available everywhere is. So we no longer depend on oil-producing countries for energy supplies.
- With green electricity, an electrolysis process "ggreen hydrogen" produced, this without only CO² emission. Later, during combustion, or conversion to electrical energy, only water and oxygen are then released, but no more CO².
- Hydrogen offers an answer to the sharply rising energy demand.
- Hydrogen can be used by all parts of our society.
How do we realise the hydrogen network?
We can take part of the convert existing natural gas (CH4) network and reuse it for hydrogen. In the process, we need to replace all valve stations and control systems. New pipelines will also be built. For instance, Fluxys is planning some 650 km of new large diameter hydrogen pipelines. In parallel, a CO² pipeline network be built. The by-products oxygen and waste heat we want to capture usefully. So there is a lot of work involved in a sustainable and future-proof hydrogen network.
APK Group is ready to deploy all its expertise and carry out these works.

"In and around a hydrogen plant, there must be a mass of cables and pipes be laid out. This kind of synergy works with as little disruption as possible, thanks in part to trenchless techniques, is precisely APK Group's speciality."
It has been calculated that 20 megatons of hydrogen needed annually from 2030 onwards will be in Europe to be able to reduce CO2 emissions by 55%, a requirement under the European "Green Deal". Half of this amount of hydrogen will be used for the decarbonisation of major industrial areas in the Benelux and Ruhr regions. This corresponds to the operating range of APK Group.
