APK Group actively constructing utilities in Port of Limburg

On the former Ford site, APK Group started the redevelopment of this area into a terminal for container transport, among other things, in December 2021.
Container transport terminal

APK Group signed up for the installation of utilities and a partial concrete pavement. This is a remarkable assignment for the group of companies, both in terms of size and working environment. The works must be completed by early 2023. "We are currently laying a sewerage network that is 9 km long. We also have to bury 3 km of water pipes and gas pipes. For the cabling, a total of 17 km of pipeline has been calculated. On the platform on which the containers will later be stacked, a network of 8 km of conduits has been laid out. Some of the 29,000 m² of concrete pavement will also be laid by APK Group", says Business Unit Manager Guy Joriskes.

Most modern technologies

APK Group started work on 1 December 2021. Since then, some 15 employees have been working on the site every day. Once the start-up phase is over and the equipment details are fully known and drawn up, this number will be increased. The advantage is that this large site is located in the vicinity of several APK infrastructure sites, which makes the actual organisation somewhat easier for the site managers Michaël Pellaers and Pieter-Jan Oosterbos. For APK Group, the Port of Limburg project involves an order worth over 7 million euros. This terminal on the banks of the Albert Canal will be equipped with the most modern technologies, which is, of course, another challenge for APK Group.
