APK Group wins Ambiorix Prize 2022
With our 1900 employees across Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Luxembourg, we strive day in day out to create smart and sustainable cities. We also have a broad spectrum of expertise in different sectors, offering a comprehensive solution for our partners.
We specialise in infrastructure works of water pipelines and installations, energy networks, telecom networks and road construction. In addition, the complementary activities of environmental and landscape architecture, trenchless techniques, civil constructions and recycling result in added value in terms of total outsourcing. This for both B2B (companies), B2G (governments) and to a lesser extent B2C (private) clients.
"We see ourselves as a Limburg growth company."
We facilitate the energy transition and create modern cities by digitising them. This includes helping to build the fibre-optic network, and thus the internet of the future, as well as installing an extensive charging station network.

Jury chairman Professor Leo Sleuwaegen (KULeuven - Vlerick Business School): "APK Group stands out as an innovative and ambitious growth company in an infrastructure and construction sector usually labelled 'traditional'. However, nothing could be further from the truth for APK Group which, as a creative jack-of-all-trades, constantly pushes the boundaries of the sector. With its mission statement 'Together we create smart and sustainable cities to make life easy, safe and accessible for everyone', the company responds directly to major needs in our society. Not only to increase competitiveness but also to innovatively connect people's worlds (and their objects - internet of things)."
Our organisation has a flat structure and open leadership style, which makes us highly agile and makes employee involvement and internal entrepreneurship particularly high. Our company continuously invests in business development and research in close cooperation with its clients and partners, in an open style of 'co-creation'. Within its industry, APK Group is a forerunner in terms of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and corporate governance.
"The jury is convinced that the professional and innovative approach underpinned by broad-based entrepreneurship and an agile organisation will enable the company to develop and exploit new growth opportunities, despite the current difficult economic environment", concludes jury chairman Sleuwaegen.

Employers' organisation VKW Limburg awards the Ambiorix Prize already for the 33ste time to a Limburg company from the TOP 500 that excels in quantitative and qualitative entrepreneurship with great attention to employees and environment. The soundness of the strict selection procedure is evidenced by the fact that the 32 previous laureates are still doing extremely well.
Based on the numerical results and growth over the past five years, a quantitative selection happens among all TOP 500 companies. For the best scoring companies, a strict qualitative selection follows and finally a visit by the independent expert jury.
The Ambiorix jury consists of jury president Professor Leo Sleuwaegen (KU Leuven- Vlerick Business School); Professor Bart Van Looy (KULeuven); Françoise Chombar (Melexis); Lode Essers (ged. best. Pami); Bart Lambrechts (human resources director Carglass); Hugo Leroi (honorary president VKW Limburg and past-president LRM); Jaak Rutten (non-executive director in various companies and organisations) and Dominiek Stinckens (managing director Greenyard Prepared Belgium (Noliko).
