A sustainable and healthy energy supply? It looks like this.
That is today's key question. Therefore, one of the main goals of APK Group at the moment is the facilitating the energy transition. After all, we are all in full switching to green electricity sources, which is good for our climate. The infrastructure sector must so also at a fast pace this evolution follow To make today's power grid ready for tomorrow's challenges. Or in some places rather to adapt yesterday's electricity grid to today's challenges. So to make the energy transition a reality, there is a lot of new futureproof infrastructure needed. APK Group thinks, creates, installs and maintains the energy supplies of the future.
Today, the question remains for many stakeholders in that energy transition: Can we already run a modern city entirely on renewable energy today? Is our society and more determined our current knowledge and capabilities in the infrastructure construction sector are ready for this? We seek an answer to this question by examining our own activities related to future-proof energy systems:

The energy transition came about in the first place because we need to find an answer to the sharply rising demand for green energy. With APK Group, we therefore conduct grid reinforcement projects out so that all available energy can be distributed to enough places sufficiently quickly. We replace outdated transformers with newer, more powerful ones and install additional transformers where necessary. We do the same with the current power cables; we also need to gradually more capacity and power give to continue to meet power demand. Grid expansion should therefore ensure that everyone sufficient power available at all times has.
As a business, you should also check your connection to the electricity grid. Does it have enough capacity to bring in the amount of power you need? If your connection not yet strong enough is, APK Group can also help by providing the installation of a medium-voltage cabin. This is how we make companies' electric future plans possible.
We must not only expand our energy transmission systems, but also innovate. One of the basic principles for a more sustainable energy system is to let nothing go to waste and waste streams positive in at put where possible. This is how we arrive at the system of heat networks or 'district heating'. That is the concept of one central, green heating source instead of many individual heating systems. Among others based on waste heat from companies we create heat in one central location and then transport it via a underground network of insulated pipes to heat individual buildings. APK Group helps build that heat grid.

Looking further into the future, we soon come to the European hydrogen network. Hydrogen is a powerful energy source available everywhere. With green energy we can use an electrolysis process to produce water convert to renewable energy. Most of this energy will be used for the decarbonisation of major industrial areas in the Benelux and Ruhr regions.
How will we make this hydrogen network a reality? We can convert and reuse part of the existing natural gas (CH4) network for hydrogen. In the process, we need to replace all valve stations and control systems. New pipelines will also be built. For instance, Fluxys is planning around 650 km of new large diameter hydrogen pipelines in Belgium alone. In parallel, a CO2 pipeline network will be built. We also want to capture by-product oxygen and residual heat. So there is a lot of work involved in a hydrogen network. APK Group is helping to lay the mass of cables and pipelines needed to realise this future-proof network.

In addition to diversifying and greening our power sources, we also simply need to increasingly become more conscious and smarter consumers. That's why at APK Group we are also working on everything with load management deal with. Our engineers develop complete Energy management systems. When we upgrade our solar panels, our batteries and our charging infrastructure integrating all in a smart way, we are going to end up consuming less.
Also for the installation of those green electricity infrastructure yourself companies and governments can count on APK Group. We place solar roofs, solar parks as well as forms of battery storage. We are experienced in the installation of charging infrastructure for individuals (commissioned by partners), companies and governments. We can also help you with 'fast' or 'hypercharging' systems. Hypercharging means that you have a DC-to-DC charging system used, allowing you to reduce the batteries of your company's vehicle or machinery fleet, for example superfast again charging. In short, we install, integrate and maintain the energy infrastructure of today and tomorrow.

Achieving such a complete and future-oriented energy system in practice will require a huge amount of infrastructure works, but it is certainly not impossible. APK Group builds on energy transition in full force and we are ready to enter into new partnerships to accelerate this evolution.
