Working for APK Group means pivoting with the sector, just like Jimmy. 
In 2022, he started as a supervisor in the telecoms department of APK Group, and today he is a project manager for telecoms and energy.

‘As a contractor at APK Group, I had already gained a considerable amount of practical experience,’ Jimmy begins. ‘But I felt motivated to learn about the other side of projects: finance, planning, taking on more responsibilities.’ He was able to realise that ambition as a project manager in telecommunications and energy. ‘In the Netherlands, the roll-out of the fibre optic network is already taking shape nicely, but we still face major, exciting challenges in the energy transition. So I see job security until I retire!’

What does Jimmy see as the advantages of being an APK employee? ‘You receive a warm welcome, the salary is good, and you get honest feedback. Training courses are offered without you having to chase them up yourself. So you're never on your own.’ The flexibility of APK Group is also an asset. ‘APK Group is constantly growing. If you're not happy in one area, you can always move in a different direction. You really can go in any direction here.’

Rico: ‘In this sector, the work never stops.’

Working for APK Group means innovating, just like Rico.
As a low-voltage engineer, he replaces old infrastructure, which is making way for stronger energy grids and smart meters. ‘Everything needs to be renewed: electricity, gas, water. The energy transition never stops, so job security is guaranteed here!’

What does Rico enjoy most about his job? ‘The variety, without a doubt. We visit several customers every day, so we never work in the same place for long. Every situation is different, which means we sometimes have to solve complex problems. That also makes the work very interesting.’

Jimmy's message to future colleagues?

Timo: ‘You can really advance your career here.’

Working for APK Group means building your own future step by step, just like Timo.
In 2023, he started as a site manager at APK Group in Willich, Germany. Today, as a project manager, he coordinates work related to the relocation of pipelines. ‘APK Group has so many projects, I immediately saw this as an opportunity to further my career. And I have succeeded in doing so.’

Timo's work revolves around infrastructure projects that will last for generations. ‘It's great to see the progress you've made. For example, when a street has been completely rebuilt, I drive home feeling good.’ That immediate impact motivates him every day. ‘The residents are often grateful too. You realise that your work really means something to people.’

But Timo looks beyond today. “Utilities need constant renewal and maintenance, and digitalisation demands ever stronger telecommunications connections. There are constant new developments, which keeps the work engaging and ensures job security.”
