APK Group takes over Turris and positions itself in mobile telecom installations

2 December 2024
Gorinchem, The Hague, Garderen, Pelt - 2 December 2024 - APK Group acquires Dutch company Turris. This positions APK Group in mobile telecoms installations in the Netherlands. Turris has about 50 employees. The company will work closely with colleagues from CIAG, already part of APK Group in the Netherlands, and specialising in fixed telecoms installations. Turris will retain its brand name and location, and remain a separate company. The acquisition amount will not be disclosed

Both companies offer design, construction, extensions, management and maintenance of network installations; CIAG more for fixed networks and Turris more for mobile networks. Together, they have a lot of knowledge and experience in network technology: in HFC and FttH networks; in coax, copper and fibre; and in the provision of 4G and 5G transmission towers. They both have all the relevant certification, both related to the field and in terms of how they work. They offer the entire process: from site acquisition, permits, installation, (re)construction of (existing) antenna installations, to full maintenance and management of network installations. Moreover, Turris also has experience in working at height (Rope Access), in lighting masts and in indoor networks (such as at Schiphol Airport and in football stadiums).

Together strong for rollout of fine-meshed 5G network

They also complement each other geographically. CIAG operates in the central, western and southern parts of the Netherlands. Turris operates all over the country. Together, they will offer installation and management services for mobile and fixed telecom networks throughout the Netherlands. The roll-out of the finely-meshed 5G network is coming, with a 5G mast every 400 metres or so, connected to a fibre-optic network. For the mobile part of this, Turris has all the expertise in-house; for the fixed part (fibre optic), CIAG has all the necessary experience. By merging, they offer the speed and quality to roll this out successfully.

The future for CIAG and Turris

Fred Leverman and Richard Hogendoorn, the directors of CIAG BV, together with founder Gerben Kamphuis, will lead Turris operationally.

Fred Leverman and Richard Hogendoorn: ‘We are delighted to add installations and services for mobile telecom networks to our offering. Turris is a fine company in the mobile telecom installations market. There is great complementarity between our two companies, allowing us to serve our clients even better. Together, as an independent player in telecom installations - mobile and fixed - we are a strong partner for our customers, providing the best service for a wide range of offerings. And we are realising our ambitious growth plans in the Netherlands.’

Gerben Kamphuis, owner and general manager of Turris: ‘I am happy to hand over my company to APK Group to further expand it and broaden its service portfolio. I myself will eventually do purely business development within Turris. In other words, I am going to focus - after a transition period - on what I like doing best,’ Kamphuis concludes.
