We share the stories of some of our most dedicated APK'ers, not only why they once started here, but also why they stay. These eternal builders will tell you their personal story about their involvement with APK Group and share some more tips for starters. Do you read along?

Sam D. S.: "It's something different every day, it's challenging;"

Meet Sam, a perpetual builder of APK Group. His journey began as a warehouse worker. Nine years and four APK branches later, he has grown to become a customer manager for gas and electricity.

Sam made the leap to customer manager after working as a warehouse worker for four months, thanks to the encouragement of his business unit manager Mario. "I knew Mario from before when I started here as a warehouse worker. He asked if I wanted to try out the job of customer manager with two shifts and since then there have been more and more."

"Why I keep working here? There is a nice atmosphere, everyone knows each other a bit and there are definitely nice colleagues."

For young starters, Sam has great words to say about APK Group: "You can grow nicely here. Look at me, I started as a warehouse worker and am now a customer manager and keep almost 40 people working. It's also something different every day, it really is a challenging job."

Peter G.: "It's good working here with pleasant colleagues's"

Meet eternal builder Peter. He started his career as an excavator at Sabbe before the company was taken over by APK Group. Driven, he progressed from groundworker to foreman and finally to customer responsible for water connections in West Flanders.

Why did he stay with APK Group after taking over from Sabbe? "Sabbe was taken over by APK Group, I kept the same conditions, so that was okay for me. My fine colleagues also played an important role."

Why should young people choose APK Group? "Because working here is good. The company is well structured and offers plenty of opportunities for growth and development."

What is his ultimate tip for young start-ups looking to get started as customer managers? " Don't start as a customer manager right away. Get experience first and then grow, so you know what you are talking about. Gaining knowledge and experience is the most important thing."

Peter would like to continue working here until his retirement. "Why would you leave when you are comfortable here?"

Brendan M.: "It's a nice working atmosphere, nice colleagues's, it's an interesting job."

Brendan, house connector gas and electricity at APK Group, has had a journey of almost four years with our company. His adventure began at AG Networks and since last year he has been a direct member of our team. He shares his passion for his work and he talks about why he believes APK Group is a good choice for young start-ups.  

Brendan talks about his experiences: "It's a nice working atmosphere and nice colleagues. What really makes my job so interesting is the variety. Every day we are on a different site and every connection is different."

He highlights why APK Group is the right choice for young starters: "APK Group offers a lot of opportunities in different industries. There is a lot of variety in what you can do. You also spend a lot of time outside and come into contact with people, which I personally find an advantage."

When it comes to advice for newcomers, Brendan has a simple tip: "Paying close attention and listening to your colleagues. If you watch and listen carefully, you can learn a lot. At school, you don't learn the same as what we do. Our training is done entirely in-house by Fluvius."

Regarding the training he has had to undergo, Brendan shares his insight: "I found it very interesting. You learn so much and it's a nice environment at Fluvius. The groups are small and the explanations are good. There is a good balance between practice and theory. The courses never last longer than a week and are well structured. This makes the training courses very interesting and fun to follow."

Jorni V.: "There is always a good atmosphere!"

Jorni, Brendan's colleague, shares a similar experience at APK Group. He too has been working for our company for almost four years and has already worked with Brendan day in and day out for three years. They share the same positive outlook on APK Group.

Why he stays with APK Group? "They are cool colleagues and the work is fun. There is always a good atmosphere, even if you have problems, you are helped well."

Why should young people choose APK Group? "Because you have a lot of opportunities for advancement. You start with basic work and then you can progress. If, like us, you start in electricity, you start by replacing meters and then you can progress to connection work. The job also offers a lot of variety. If you like working outdoors, home connections is the ideal job. It's a variation between indoor and outdoor work, but most of it is outdoors."

Jorni started working right after his studies, so he speaks from experience when he shares his tip for young people: "You definitely need to be eager to learn and willing to work. Not to mention be careful, because it is a job that does carry risks if you are not thoughtful, especially if you are just starting out."
