Electrical renovation in Roermond city hall

An all-electric project? Roermond town hall says yes!

Sustainable work continues to become more important for our clients. The city of Roermond, for example, was looking for the contractor who would cause as little disruption as possible on the central square. Rasenberg, the contractor of this project, responded to this challenge by working entirely electrically.

From 19 to 32 power groups

Roermond city hall is undergoing a modern transformation. Michael Bex, executor of the project, explains: "We modernise the transformer room by replacing old elements with new ones and completely refurbishing it." Wil Hermans, work manager at Enexis, explains how they ensure the plant is ready for the future: "We are expanding from 19 to 32 outgoing pitches to meet the growing electricity demand to be able to meet."

Large and small equipment: the future is electric

Roermond's central square, a bustling location with restaurants, shops and a busy wedding hall, required an approach that minimised noise pollution. The decision to operate entirely electrically however, was not only motivated by the need to meet less disruption, but also by a pursuit of sustainability.

Electric equipment makes almost no noise and also causes no odour nuisance, a relief for those around our works and for our APKs themselves. "Besides, it also does not emit greenhouse gases during its use. That helps us as a company improve our Reduce CO2 emissions, an important part of our sustainability policy.", adds Solange Bruno, sustainability manager.

Towards greener yards

The electrification project of Roermond city hall is not only a technology upgrade, but also a cultural shift towards a more sustainable approach to construction projects. Michael Bex and his team testify to the advantages of electrical work, but also recognise the challenges that come with it for the time being. The city of Roermond supports this transition to greener yards by, among other things, providing mobile charging cabinets for recharging machines.

Roermond City Hall's electrification project is an inspiring example of how sustainability and efficiency go hand in hand can go. With a future-oriented approach and a focus on environmental friendliness, this project sets a new standard for infrastructure projects in the Netherlands and abroad.
